Whilst Tuesday nights are our main club night, Thursday nights are proving to be very popular. These are slightly less formal than Tuesdays but we continue to run in groups and of course, “no-one gets left behind”. Having a variety of routes and runs with varying abilities helps everyone to make progress in their running.
We are very lucky to be able to meet at the Mote Cricket Club and through most of July and August cricket was being played accompanied by an interesting selection of music. It’s such a good venue when you can sit outside after a run, have a drink and watch the last few overs of the cricket.
It’s good to see our membership growing and at £20 a year, this has got to be good value for money.
On the social side, we supported the “eat out to help out” with an evening at the Potting Shed in Langley. We had perfect tables outside on a very warm evening and it was a very successful evening.
At the end of August, we participated in a charity event hosted by the Mote Cricket Club in aid of one of their ex-players who sadly took his own life a few months previously. Our part was to arrange a “fun-run” to start off the proceedings and despite probably having more marshals than runners, it was very well received and overall a big success.
We finished the month off with another 5 mile virtual challenge. This time, Tom and Jen C were the men and women’s winners.
