The early September 2019 gave us good weather and again, we made full use of Mote Park for our club runs. The Mote Cricket Club is a great venue, especially when you can sit outside after a Tuesday club run watch the cricket with a drink.
On the 1st September 2019, Lianne won her age group at the Badlesmere 10k with another top quality run. This was the first time this event has been held; it was a great run to do along with some fellow Mote Runners.
The following week, Rohan Seal successfully completed the Man vs Mountain challenge and was sort of smiling in the photos! A very challenging event, well done Rohan.
Also, the final handicap 5k run took place and was won by Theresa. This has become quite competitive and thanks again to Mick for organising.
We also had some training sessions run by Dave B and Suzanne. The advantage of being on the doorstep of Mote Park is that we can hold these sessions in a safe and friendly environment. The hills don’t help though, unless it’s hill training week!
Towards the end of the month, we entered a team in The Mote Cricket Clubs annual quiz evening. A very well organised quiz and despite our best efforts, we won the wooden spoon. Not entirely sure what happened but at least we came away with a prize (a pink pencil case each).
September also saw the successful start of our Mote Beginners sessions. The sessions run as part of the club membership on Thursday evenings at 7pm at The Mote Cricket Club. They are aimed at those who really want to start running but perhaps don’t have the confidence or experience to complete our 5k route with us and are looking for a place to start, or for those returning to running after a break or injury.
